Role:
As an International Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping activities for our Australian entity. This includes handling GST, posting expenses, supplier invoices, intercompany transactions, and managing international supplier invoices. You will work with multiple bookkeeping systems, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained in compliance with local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-Day Bookkeeping: Manage daily bookkeeping tasks for our Australian operation, including reconciling bank accounts, processing payments, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
- GST Management: Calculate, prepare, and submit GST returns in Australia, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
- Expense Management: Post and track expenses, supplier invoices, and employee reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Intercompany Transactions: Record and reconcile intercompany transactions between different entities, ensuring consistency and accuracy across accounts.
- International Supplier Invoices: Manage and process international supplier invoices, including currency conversion and adherence to different tax requirements.
- Payroll Management: Prepare, review and process payroll for our Australian entity. Prepare payroll variance reports and comply with Australian regulations.
- Systems: Work with various systems (such as Xero, TravelPerk, Vogsy, Wise etc.) to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring all data is accurate and complete.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial practices comply with Australian regulations, including tax, GST, Payroll Tax, PAYG, FBT, and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Communication: Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and external auditors to resolve discrepancies and provide accurate financial information.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in an international or multi-entity environment.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, including Australian GST regulations.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing intercompany transactions and multiple currency conversions.
- Familiarity with international tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of additional accounting software or systems.
- Previous experience working in a remote or hybrid work environment.
