 At ClearRoute we work in a hybrid, flexible way, with two days a week onsite in our office in Farringdon where this role will be based from.  Unfortunately we cannot offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Role:

We are seeking an experienced Backend Python Developer with strong experience building and deploying scalable systems on Microsoft Azure (AWS deployment experience is also welcomed). The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise in Python backend frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask, and a proven track record of designing high-performance APIs and data-intensive services.

You will work on backend platforms that integrate AI-driven components, including Agentic AI systems, LLM integrations, and Azure automation services. This role focuses on building robust, scalable backend architectures that support large volumes of data, real-time processing, and intelligent workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask).

• Build and manage RESTful APIs and microservices, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.

• Architect backend systems to support high-throughput, data-rich applications.

• Integrate AI/ML capabilities

• Optimise backend data pipelines, data transformations, and processing for large-scale and real-time workloads.

• Collaborate with frontend, data, and AI teams to support end-to-end application functionality.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Approximately 5 years of professional Python development experience.

• Strong experience with backend Python frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask.

• Proven experience building and maintaining APIs and microservices.

• Experience deploying and operating applications on Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with AI systems, Agentic AI concepts, or integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).

• Experience working with large-scale data processing, performance tuning, and backend optimisation.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
